Sara Ross

Sara is a Cornish Artist, working and living in Penwith, inspired very much by the beautiful
rugged Cornish coast and landscape. She is drawn to the dazzling array of textures and colours that can be seen on the Cornish cliffs where weather and time has made an imprint on the landscape. She works in an abstract form but always taking her inspiration from nature.

Sara works with cold cast bronze as well as Cornish stoneware clay and porcelain, and uses a variety of experimental glazes and slips, as well as metal oxides, organic matter and crushed natural minerals and crystals in her ceramic work. Process is important to her studio practice. Keeping her subject in mind, she lets her subconscious play a role in how the details of the piece develop.

She worked in the film industry in London for
several years before moving to Cornwall 12 years ago. She worked as a
prosthetic artist, painter and sculptor working on films such as the
Da Vinci Code and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory amongst others.

Over the last few years she has had group shows at the Salt house Gallery St.Ives, Penwith Gallery, St.Ives and taken part in group shows at the Aubergine Gallery in Wimbledon, London, also at the Marazion Gallery, Cornwall.
