Jennifer Wright
Jennifer describes her work...
'It is always the light that fascinates me. The movement on water, the play of light and the subtle change of colour with every hour of the day, whether it be a racecourse, the sea or a study of Dartmoor. From the misty mornings of the West Country to the bright midday sun of India or studio lighting at home.'
Her subject matter is large but she is probably best known for her West Country Seascapes - especially Salcombe.
She paints whatever appeals whether it be a horse, a moored dinghy, beach scene, landscape or portrait but of course light, composition and colour are all essential and she endeavours to paint with these three principles in mind.
She studied graphic design at St Martins School of Art in the late 60s but has always painted since a child. She has exhibited nationally on many occasions, with the Royal Drawing Society (age 8!) The RA, NEAC, ROI, SEA Associate Member (winning the Crossgate Gallery Award one year), SWA and The Pastel Society.
